Morning Duty PAID date stamps 1846-1857
A new circular stamp was introduced in 1846. This had the lettering in block capitals, the date either side of the month and a two-letter identification code. It also had the year in a straight line, and was applied, as usual, in red ink
click here for details	This letter dated 15 January 1845 was written and posted in Chippenham, Wiltshire and addressed to Messrs Metcalfe & Woodhouse, Solcrs, Lincolns Inn, London.
Gentlmn Will you allow me to call your attention to my letter to you with reference to the dilapidations at Berry town. I trust Mr Metcalfe has been able to resume Business and that I may expect forthwith to hear from him as it is a matter of consequence to my Clients that the matter should be adjusted without any further delay I am Gentm Yr Ob.St. Josp.
