The so-called 'rump state' of Yugoslavia is located in south-eastern central Europe and comprises those parts of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) which have not seceded from the federation - namely Serbia, Montenegro and the autonomous Serbian provinces of Kosovo and Vojvodina. Serbia covers an area of 88,361 sq km, including Vojvodina (21,506 sq km) and Kosovo (10,887 sq km). Montenegro covers an area of 13,812 sq km and includes a coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Serbia is bounded to the west by Croatia and Albania, to the north by Hungary and Romania and to the east by Bulgaria.*

First stamps issued for individual provinces 1918-19 and for the unified country 16th January 1921.
